Winter Skies

Join us this Friday, January 17, for a presentation on Winter Skies. Kopernik’s Livestream Astronomer, Jenny Cartie, will show you how to identify constellations and planets in the winter sky, and how to spot the International Space Station among other night sky objects. If you have your own telescope, bring it with you and a Kopernik Astronomical Society member will help you learn how to assemble it and use it. Although it is cold, winter is one of the best times to view planets and stars, so head up to Kopernik, away from the city lights!

We are excited to offer this program both online and in-person. For those that can visit us on-site, doors open at 6:30 pm and the program begins at 7:00 pm. If the skies are clear, our domes will be open for you to view the night skies through Kopernik’s telescopes both before and after the program. This year we should get a great view of the Venus/Saturn conjunction, Jupiter and Mars. Later in the evening we’ll see a waning gibbous moon.

The program will be livestreamed on the Kopernik YouTube Channel.
