an ST-9E camera thru Kopernik's 20 inch F/8.1 telescope. Image taken at
3:25 UT on December 28, 2003. The field of view is 9x9 arc minutes with
North at the top.

Barred Spiral Galaxy NGC 846 (aka NGC 847):
NGC 846 is a 13.5 magnitude face-on Barred Spiral Galaxy in the Constellation of Andromeda. This galaxy is also included in the New General Catalog (NGC) as NGC 847.
Based on the published red shift, (and a Hubble Constant of 62 Km/sec per Mpc) a rough distance estimate for NGC 846 and SN 2003 ja is 269 million light years, with a galaxy diameter of about 148,800 light years.
